ROHATSU AT UNGAN's ZENDO

Zazen-Kai for 2 Days
December 7th and 8th, 2013


The Rinzai Zen Sangha will host a ROHATSU DAY ZAZEN‐KAI at UNGAN ZENDO, BRONX, NY on Saturday December 7th and Sunday December 8th, 2013. 

Ven. Eido Shimano Roshi will be our honored guest to lead this Sangha occasion. 

Rohatsu is the Sesshin observed throughout the world to commemorate the 8 days of Buddha’s Enlightenment. For those in the NYC area, we welcome you to join us for the last 2 days of Rohatsu doing deep Zazen at Ungan’s Zendo.

The Zazen‐kai for each day will be scheduled as follows:

09:00 ‐ 09:30 am               Doors Open ( Change into Robes or comfortable clothes for Zazen)
09:30 ‐ 12:00                     Zazen
12:00 ‐ 01:30 pm               Lunch Break ( Individual Vegetarian Meals Served )
01:30 ‐ 02:15                     Zazen
02:30 ‐ 03:30                     Teisho by Ven. Eido Shimano Roshi
03:30 ‐ 05:30                     Zazen
05:30 ‐ 06:30                     Silent Departure Saturday, Dec 7th, Informal Sarei Sunday Dec 8th

Please note that in regards to the ROHATSU,  the Sangha will depart in silence on Dec 7th  at 5:30pm and return the next day 9am to continue the zazen schedule. An informal Sarei will be conducted at the end of the day on Sunday December 8th. 2013

The suggested contribution for this ROHATSU 2- DAY ZAZEN‐KAI will be $50 per person which includes vegetarian lunch. If you only attend one day, the contribution will be $30 per person. Although we will collect your contribution at the door, please be mindful that we are preparing your lunch in advance. So please be mindful of letting us know early in case there are any cancellations.   Seating is very limited so please confirm your RSVP as soon as possible.
